The idea for providing world class domestic travel for Young Black Professionals spawned from the Black travel movement, birthed by the millennial generation, which continues to go to this day. Young Blacks traverse across the globe visiting places that our parents and grandparents never dreamed of, places hidden at the far corners of the earth, that hold immense beauty and rich culture. This movement has done more than just expose American Blacks to other races, religions, and cultures around the world, it has connected us to other people of African decent, and to our origins in Africa itself. The Black travel movement has led Black people to begin to define themselves on a global scale.  With all the discovery of self, and world purpose that international travel brings, it poses a rather large question. How can we seek to travel the world, and understand other countries, people, and culture when there are places in our own country that we have not experienced?  The answer..

The founder/ CEO of The Weekender Trips is Raheem Manning. Raheem is 31 years old and a West Philadelphia native with a passion for traveling the world and experiencing new cultures and thrills. Raheem attended Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA for his undergraduate degree. In addition, he holds a certification for international business from East China Normal University in Shanghai, China, and has earned a Masters's in business administration from Thomas Jefferson University. Raheem firmly believes that it is important for young Blacks to traverse the world to find out who they are and where they belong. Too often Black Americans are closed out of amazing places because of lack of historical inclusion and systematic oppression that keeps them confined to the same mundane places, and this is what sparked Raheem to create a platform making travel affordable and attainable for young Black professionals. Having visited 6 continents and over 30 countries, Raheem has ascertained how important travel is in providing a balanced worldview and putting life as a Black American in perspective.
